What is lactose?
Lactose is a naturally occurring sugar that is found in most dairy products. This sugar fuels us with energy, it increases the absorption of minerals in the body (ex. calcium), and it promotes healthy digestion.
What is lactose intolerance?
Lactose intolerance is the inability to fully digest the sugar (lactose) found in most dairy products. The body typically breaks down lactose with a naturally occurring enzyme, lactase. Lactase splits lactose into two simple sugars (glucose and galactose) that can easily be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Individuals who are lactose intolerant have low levels of lactase in their body. When lactose isn't fully digested, it travels further down the digestive tract into the large intestine, where it is fermented by bacteria. This fermentation process produces acids and gases, which causes symptoms of bloating, pressure, stomach pain, and gas.
What is a lactase enzyme pill?
A lactase pill (or supplement) is simply a pill that gives your body more lactase. By supplementing your body with lactase before a dairy meal, your body can then fully digest the lactose and avoid all negative symptoms of lactose intolerance!
Are there any side effects from DairyPills?
No, DairyPills only have one active ingredient, lactase. Lactase is a naturally occurring enzyme that is excreted from the body if taken in excess.
We're proud to say that our lactose intolerance pills are meticulously crafted to be safe and free from any known side effects.
How many DairyPills should I take?
DairyPills are the strongest over the counter lactose pills on the market and are designed to be a one-pill-fix for almost all situations.
We recommend swallowing one DairyPill a few minutes before each meal or snack containing dairy.
If you have severe lactose intolerance or find yourself eating a meal with a ton of dairy, you can always take more DairyPills to fully eliminate any symptoms of lactose intolerance.
How long does each DairyPill last?
DairyPill is designed to be taken before each meal containing dairy, and each one lasts up to 2 hours!
DairyPill has a shelf life of 2 years. Each pouch is labeled with the specific expiration date at which point the effectiveness of DairyPill begins to gradually decline.
Are DairyPills chewable?
DairyPills are chewable-safe! They were designed to be swallowed so they don't contain any added flavoring and have no taste. As a result, we recommend chewing a DairyPill with your first bite of food!
Is it possible to overdose on DairyPills?
No, DairyPills only have one active ingredient, lactase. Lactase is a naturally occurring enzyme that is excreted from the body if taken in excess. There is no upper limit on how much lactase can be consumed.
DairyPills are safe to be consumed as many times per day as necessary and can be consumed daily. There is no evidence of any negative effects from extended long-term use of lactase.
What dairy foods have the most lactose?
The 5 foods with the highest levels of lactose are:
1. Milk - milk contains the most lactose out of all dairy products, containing around 15g of lactose per serving.
2. Yogurt - yogurt has the next highest level of lactose at around 9g per serving.
3. Cream (ice cream, cream cheese, custard, etc.) - foods containing cream have anywhere from 1g - 6g of lactose per serving.
4. Cheese - hard cheeses such as parmesan, Swiss, and cheddar typically have lower levels of lactose than soft cheeses. Cheeses typically contain around 2g of lactose per serving.
5. Milk Chocolate - milk chocolate contains around 1g of lactose per serving.
Note - any foods that are made with these ingredients will also contain lactose at varying levels.
At what age can you start taking DairyPills?
Children of 8 years or older can safely take DairyPills whenever they consume dairy foods.
Can I take DairyPills when I am pregnant or nursing?
Yes, DairyPills are safe to be used by anyone 8 years or older who experiences lactose intolerance!
How can I tell the difference between a milk allergy vs lactose intolerance?
Milk Allergy = Immune System.
Lactose Intolerance = Digestive System.
A milk allergy is an immune response to the proteins found in milk (most typically Casein and Whey). It occurs when the immune system starts attacking these proteins due to thinking that they are harmful. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and include wheezing, vomiting, hives, digestive issues, and sometimes anaphylaxis - a life-threatening reaction. Milk allergies are one of the most common food allergies in children, but most children outgrow these allergies by the age of 2 or 3.
Lactose Intolerance is the inability to fully digest the sugar (lactose) in milk. When unabsorbed lactose arrives at the large intestine, the natural bacteria begins to feed on the lactose in a process called fermentation. This process produces gas, which then causes symptoms of diarrhea, gas, and bloating.
Lactase Enzyme Supplements do NOT treat milk allergies or milk protein intolerances. As a result, DairyPill will not help if you have a milk allergy. DairyPill should only be taken to alleviate the symptoms of lactose intolerance.
